Gujarat Darshan Program
For Senior NRGs (Non-Resident Gujaratis)
The Gujarat Darshan Program for Senior NRGs aims to reconnect senior Non-Resident Gujaratis with their cultural roots by offering a well-organized tour of Gujarat’s historical, spiritual, cultural, and national heritage sites, while fostering stronger ties between Gujaratis living across India and their ancestral homeland.
Program Overview and Duration
- Duration: The tour program will be conducted over 7 days and 6 nights.
- Tentative Dates: Dates will be finalized by the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujarati Foundation in consultation with Gujarati community organizations in the respective state/city.
- Major Places to Visit: Statue of Unity, Somnath, Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Junagadh, Pavagadh, Salangpur, Bhavnagar, Palitana, Modhera Sun Temple, Rani ki Vav, Adalaj Stepwell, Laxmi Vilas Palace, Sabarmati Ashram, and Indo-Pak Border at Suigam (Nadabet).
Group Structure and Participants
- Group Size: Each group may consist of a maximum of 25 participants, including the group leader.
- Group Leader: One or two office-bearers from the concerned Gujarati community organization must accompany the group throughout the tour as leaders.
- Medical Support: It is highly desirable that one doctor or medical practitioner be included in the tour group.
Financial Arrangements and Cost Sharing
- Travel to/from Gujarat: All expenses for traveling to Ahmedabad and returning home must be borne by the individual participant or the group.
- Government Subsidy: During the 7-day tour, the Foundation will support expenses up to ₹10,000 per participant for transport, accommodation, meals, and sightseeing — paid directly to the Gujarat Tourism Corporation.
- Additional Expenses: Any expenditure exceeding ₹10,000 per participant must be paid by the concerned individual or group directly to the Tourism Corporation.
Application Process and Role of Organizations
- Submission of Application: The Gujarati community organization must submit a formal application in the prescribed format issued by the Foundation, with all required details.
- Role as Coordinator: The organization will act as the coordinating body responsible for managing and facilitating the program from beginning to end.
- Participant List and Declaration: The organization must provide a certified participant list along with a signed Self-Declaration Form from each participant.
Tour Rules and Required Documents
- Mandatory Participation: Except in cases of serious medical emergencies, all participants must attend the entire tour program.
- Medical Fitness Certificate: All participants must submit a medical fitness certificate confirming they are physically fit to undertake the tour.
- Local Contact in Gujarat: Participants must provide the name, address, and contact details of a close relative or acquaintance residing in Gujarat for emergency use.
- Extended Stay: Any additional accommodation, meals, or transport costs for early arrival or extended stay beyond the scheduled program must be borne by the participant.
Tourism Corporation-Level Arrangements
- Tour Packages: The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) will prepare and submit 3 to 4 tour package options to the Foundation.
- Selection of Package: The Gujarati community organization may choose the most suitable package based on the interests and requirements of its participants.
- Financial Coordination: Financial arrangements between the Foundation and the Tourism Corporation will be handled by the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujarati Foundation.
